| The Sockeye run with fish from 5 to 8 pounds starts in June. The run peaks around the first week of July and continues into August. Once hooked, Sockeye salmon are tremendous fighters. They can be fished with both fly rods or spinning rods using flies. The Sockeye salmon is considered to be one of the finest eating of all the Pacific salmon. Excellent smoked |
| Fish Kodiak Adventures offers you direct access to fishing on Pasagshak River. This system has some largest Coho salmon and Sockeye salmon on Kodiak Island. The river is relatively short, and is unusual in that it reverses its flow with the ebb and flow of the tides. Towards the mouth faster water is excellent for Sockeye fishing, and up near the lodge and at the lake slow-moving water is excellent Coho fishing. |
| The Pasagshak river Coho run starts in August. The run peaks in late September and continues into late October. Fish from 14 - 20+ pounds are normal with many fish exceeding 18 pounds. During August and September new fish move into the river on each tide. They can be seen moving up the river from the lodge. Most fishing is done in the river during August and September |
| Saltery River & Portage River |
| Fish Kodiak Adventure offer easy access to the Saltery River and the Portage River which are both located in the upper end of Ugak Bay. Although both rivers are technically on the road system. The only access is by float plane, ATV or with Captain Rick’s boat the “C Grace”. It is just a short and Scenic 30 minute run from Pasagshak to Saltery Cove The Saltery River which sees an average return of 48,000 reds each year, (the largest run on the Kodiak road system) offers some excellent late summer Sockeye salmon fly-fishing. This system is also excellent in the Fall for Big Coho salmon and Steelhead fishing. The Portage River is closer to Pasagshak. It is a short & scenic 20 minute run from Pasagshak beach. A slightly smaller river than the Saltery river. It offer excellent Fall Coho salmon fishing.
